Our Research Foundation
What started as a research project at Bangalow Ave has evolved into something much bigger. We noticed that businesses were struggling not with basic financial concepts, but with applying them in contexts that didn't exist five years ago. Traditional models assumed stable supply chains, predictable customer behavior, and linear growth patterns.
Our methodology emerged from studying over 800 businesses across Australia and New Zealand between 2019-2024. We found that companies succeeding in volatile markets shared three characteristics: adaptive financial frameworks, scenario-based planning, and what we call "optionality thinking"—building financial strategies that create opportunities rather than just managing risk.
